Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
Golsen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry cater's to the cosmetic needs of all
ages, offering a full-range of high-tech and high-touch services. We provide
cosmetic and restorative procedures like tooth whitening, porcelain veneers,
crowns and even dental implants. Whatever your cosmetic dental needs, we're
here to provide the best of everything because we believe you deserve it.
All of our patients are seen by each of the three dentists---one of the
strongest benefits of our practice.
We believe the strongest
benefit to our practice is being seen by each of our three dentists. Dr. Mike Golsen provides
the initial examination. Dr. Jill Golsen provides the "indirect
dentistry," which we call the porcelain veneers, onlays and
crowns, while Dr. Rosie Panich provides the "direct dentistry," or
the bonding and tooth-colored restorations. By combining our areas
of expertise, we provide you with the best dentistry.
Your First Dental Visit
On your first dental visit, you will be with
Dr. Mike Golsen for about one hour. During this time, he will explain
the exam process
and provide an extra-oral examination, which includes an evaluation
of the thyroid, lymphatic system in the head and neck region,
muscle of mastication, TMJ and skin cancer assessment.
Dr. Mike Golsen will then provide an intra-oral cancer examination
by evaluating the tongue, cheeks, floor of mouth and back of throat,
as well as the salivary glands. Next he will evaluate the occlusion
and function, looking at the midline, overbite and over jet, as well
as molar classifications. He will look at the movement and guidance
of the temporomandibular joint.
Next, Dr. Mike Golsen will map your existing dental condition and
pathology, followed by a tour of your mouth with an intra-oral video
camera. Finally, he will take the necessary radiographs, usually
a seven-series vertical bitewing and panoramic films. Upon completion
of the examination, our hygienist will begin initial probing and
cleaning, and Dr. Mike Golsen will finish the experience with the
continuing treatment recommendation. At the next appointment, you
will be with Dr. Jill Golsen or Dr. Rosie Panich.

Tooth-Colored Restorations
Our goal is to achieve undetectable dentistry.
For years, silver mercury was the primary material used by dentists
to fill cavities.
Today tooth-colored restorations are superior in many ways. They
can restore teeth to their original look and function, and help
maintain their strength. In fact, white fillings are the state-of-the-art
alternative to rebuilding teeth.
Golsen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry create natural-looking, high-quality
dental restorations that may prevent the need for more extensive
treatment later. We are proud to offer tooth-colored restoratives
exclusively because our patients deserve only the best.
Porcelain
Veneers
One of the most dramatic breakthroughs in cosmetic
dentistry is the creation of porcelain veneers. Veneers are fine
pieces of carefully
shaped porcelain that, when bonded to your teeth, are strong,
natural and beautiful looking. They can be used to close spaces,
lighten
color, correct contour, properly align your teeth, and restore
teeth to their original aesthetic and practical function. If
you have questions about porcelain veneers, feel free to ask any
member
of our staff, or schedule a consultation with Golsen Family and
Cosmetic Dentistry.

Prepless veneers are veneers that you do not need to prep or grind on the teeth
to have a beautiful smile. We can closes spaces that orthodontist can not
close to get the ideal function of the teeth, change color of teeth and allow
more presence to the smile.

We try to preserve as much tooth structure
as possible by offering porcelain onlays. The onlays are laid on
top of the tooth, saving
most of the tooth. By minimizing tooth destruction, we can
often save the tooth for another 15 years. If it is necessary for
most
of the tooth to be covered, we will provide porcelain crowns.
TMD
Splint Therapy
Dr. Mike Golsen works with patients who have problems
with the temporomandibular joint, causing pain or headaches. The
temporomandibular
joint connects
the lower jaw, called the mandible, to the temporal bone at
the side of the head. Some people feel discomfort or pain with the
muscles that control jaw function. Besides pain, other symptoms
of TMD include clicking sound of the jaw, limited movement
of
the jaw, a change in the way the upper and lower teeth fit together,
headaches, earaches and dizziness.
We offer splint therapy for our TMD patients. The NTI device can
prevent medically diagnosed migraine pain, tension-type headache,
and jaw disorders without drugs or surgery. For more information,
talk to Dr. Mike Golsen or visit www.nti-tss.com.
Tooth Whitening
If your teeth aren't as white as you'd like them,
we have good news for you. Our in-office or at-home whitening procedures
work
safely
and comfortably during the day or at night while you sleep.
Tooth whitening is an easy way to improve your appearance and brighten
your smile. You can have beautiful, white teeth and the smile
you've always wanted in just a few weeks.
To whiten your teeth, we use the most advanced technology available
called Zoom! The results are
dramatic--up to about eight shades whiter. You can go on with your
day with a whiter, brighter smile. Zoom! is ideal for anyone wanting
immediate results.
For patients willing to wait longer, we offer a take-home whitening
system allowing you to brighten your teeth in about three nights.
You may go even lighter with additional applications. Start on Friday
and by Monday you'll have a whole new smile. For more information,
talk to one of our doctors at Golsen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry,
or visit Zoom!
online.
Laser Dentistry
We use the diode laser for soft-tissue treatment,
particularly when we are working on crowns. With the diode laser,
we can provide
faster healing, reduced risk of infection, less need for separate
surgical appointments, less time in a dental chair, less bleeding,
less pain and better results. At Golsen Family and Cosmetic
Dentistry, we strive to make you as comfortable as possible.
Implant Dentistry
Dental implants have become a choice treatment
option for many patients who are missing one or more teeth. A dental
implant
is a replacement
tooth "root" constructed of medical grade titanium. Dental
implants are extremely stable, strong and natural looking. Patients
with dental implants are able to eat, smile and laugh without fear
or embarrassment that their denture may slip or click, or that
their bridge will trap food.

Digital
Imaging
Golsen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry is dedicated
to open communication. We are happy to discuss and answer any questions
you may have.
We use an intra-oral camera, which allows us to display your
teeth on a video screen, helping you see inside your mouth. We then
walk
you through your proposed treatment by helping you to picture
what lies ahead.
Golsen Family and Cosmetic Dentistry believe it's important you
are protected from any possible harmful effects from radiation. That's
why we use digital radiography,
which decreases radiation by more than 90 percent compared to conventional
dental x-ray machines.
Preventive Periodontal Therapy
Most Americans experience some form
of periodontal disease, often without realizing it. Periodontal
disease is chiefly responsible
for adult tooth loss, bad breath and receding gum lines. The
truth is that it is easily prevented with proper maintenance,
home care
and professional treatment. If diagnosed in its early stages,
periodontal disease may be treated easily and effectively.
We complete full-mouth
periodontal probing, deep cleanings, or therapeutic scaling
and curettage in areas where needed. We want to help you maintain
good oral health and your natural teeth.
Non-Surgical Periodontal
Therapy
Periodontal disease occurs when bacteria builds up on your
teeth under the gums, causing your gums to become swollen and red.
This inflammation eventually results in the loosening of teeth
that
can eventually cause them to fall out. For many patients with
periodontal disease, we can now manage it non-surgically using
antibiotics.
With proper maintenance and homecare, your periodontal tissue
can remain a gleaming pink, and this in turn will help you keep
your
natural teeth.
Arestin is a treatment for chronic periodontitis, an infection of
the gums that can lead to tooth loss. Arestin contains a potent,
low-dose antibiotic administered directly into the infected pockets
between your teeth. When used with scaling and root planing, Arestin
significantly reduces the depth of infected pockets and helps prevent
disease progression.
Waterlase Dentistry
No needles, no drilling, no pain...no kidding! At Golsen Family and Cosmetic
Dentistry, it's possible with our Waterlase laser. Using an airborne stream of
water, our doctors can remove the decay without the drill, the needle, the
noise or the pain. Also Waterlase reserves more of your natural tooth than the
drilling. The next time you need a filling, relax. Waterlase makes the process
more comfortable.

a movie. We offer more than 180 DVDs from which to choose. Some patients
just want an audio experience with the ability to see what is happening.
For them, we offer the I-Pod, which now holds more than 20,000 songs.
